Right now I'm waiting to hear what ruling the Andalucian Junta are giving as they implemented their own ruling before central government did.
Goodbye to the mask: it will no longer be mandatory outdoors from the 26th
Pedro Sánchez sets a date for one of the most anticipated news of the de-escalation
The President of the Government has set a date for one of the most anticipated news of the de-escalation: Pedro Sánchez announces that from next June 26 we will not wear a mask outdoors, according to Cadena SER.
For this, an extraordinary Council of Ministers will be held next Thursday in which the measure will be proposed. "Our streets, our faces will regain their normal appearance in the next few days," Sánchez stressed during his speech at the closing of the Círculo de Economía Meeting held at the Hotel W in Barcelona.
"This will be the last weekend with masks in the open air," the president celebrated, highlighting that the forecasts made by the Government are not only optimistic but "they are going to fall short."
This same week, on Wednesday June 16, Sánchez already announced that Spain has reached "cruising speed in vaccination" and that "soon" we would be able to abandon the masks on the street: "In a few days we will have more than 15 million people with a complete guideline and in a few weeks, 50% of the population will have at least one, "he said at the time.
Andalusian position
The Minister of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía, Jesús Aguirre, in an interview on Canal Sur Radio, collected by Europa Press, criticized this Thursday the open "debate" about the possible relaxation of the mandatory use of masks, after that both the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, pointed out in the last hours that "soon" this element will cease to be mandatory, mainly in outdoor spaces.
"It is a debate that I do not like because we create a false expectation of relaxation", has commented the Andalusian Minister of Health, who has declared thus "against opening a sterile debate" with which "we do not win anything, only lower your guard, "according to his opinion.
Aguirre pointed out that until "the end of July or mid-August" he did not contemplate that the mandatory use of the mask as a tool for the prevention of Covid-19 infections in the autonomous community could be relaxed.
The counsellor asserted that in Andalusia "the mask will not be lifted, first, until Law 2/2021 declines, which is the one that strictly obliges the autonomous communities to use masks in both open and closed public places ", and" until we do not have at least 75% total immunity among the Andalusian population ", that is," group immunity "with that proportion of the population vaccinated with the two doses, as stressed in the aforementioned interview.
