The two million Spaniards under the age of 60 who were vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca will know during this afternoon if their regimen will be completed with the mixture of doses.
The Public Health Commission will meet this afternoon with the aim of deciding how it will immunize these people who should start completing their regimen next week, something that could be done with Pfizer serum.
The general directors of the communities and the Ministry of Health will already have on the table the preliminary results of CombiVacs, the trial promoted by the Carlos III Health Institute in which 600 volunteers have participated in five Spanish hospitals to shed more light on the effectiveness of mixing both vaccines.
Minister Carolina Darías insisted that her opinion as minister is to wait for the results of the CombiVacs clinical trial to make a decision on how to immunize people under 60 who received a first dose of AstraZeneca.
Some communities such as Andalusia, Madrid, Galicia, Catalonia and Murcia insist that the best option is to start voluntarily inoculating the second dose of AstraZeneca to those who request it.
