Jos Biggs certainly not had a good day recently, read on !!

It was a most auspicious start to the day. I arose from my bed like an arthritic skylark despite not having my customary coffee to lubricate the tubes; I was due a blood test, and blood tests mean No Coffee Until Afterwards.

I was in, done and out from the surgery with hardly enough time to get uncomfortable in those plastic chairs.

I returned home with enough time to have the coffee that I was lacking, and to chat to the inestimable Steve as he ministered to my pool.

Then along came Dave, who wanted to information beyond the scope of my knowledge.

Nevertheless, I was humming a happy tune as I was on my way to the Almanzora Group of Friends for my Wednesday stint in the Library.

I had noticed on my way to the Surgery that Henry’s warning light about low tyre pressure was on, but I reckoned that he would make it into Albox and back without too much melodrama.

But as I left Limaria, steadfastly ignoring his light but promising him I would deal with this afternoon, when he suddenly let out an almighty screech accompanied by a flashing orange display saying STOP.

I Stopped! Henry stopped screeching. I got out and looked him over. All seemed to be in order, and all his tyres were still round, but he had panicked me – if it wasn’t his tyres, then it must be something worse.

I turned him round and gingerly shepherded a now silent Henry back home. Dave owes me a favour, I reasoned, so perhaps he can accompany Henry and me over the mountain to Sebastian’s Hospital for Motor Vehicles.

We carefully proceeded over the mountain in tandem with Henry now saying not a word, and then returned to Dave’s house for a restorative coffee – there’s always room for one more coffee!

Now all I have to do is wait for Sebastian to phone, beg a lift down to fetch Henry, and pay his bill.

But….

I returned home to find a complete absence of Mr Fluffipants, just a pile of sick on the recliner chair.

I hate cleaning up vomit! But someone has to do it, and as I was the only available human that someone was me!

Job done, but I didn’t dare go out, I’m waiting for the phone, so I decided to fill my day with cooking the glut of plums my small tree has produced.

I prepared them, put them in the microwave, selected the appropriate number of minutes, and waited.

Tink went Bear, the microwave. I opened him, to be greeted by a sea of plum juice – it was everywhere! All 4 sides, the ceiling and the floor were liberally covered in plum juice!

I sighed, and set about cleaning up for the second time that day. Next time I cook plums I’m going to do it on the hob, and I’m going to keep a sharp eye on them!

Now I’m waiting for the phone. One of my Today jobs was to go the bank and get some money; I fear that the longer Sebastian takes to phone the bigger his bill will be – I hope I’ll have enough money?!
