Some sensible advice from N332 regarding the current hot spell.
? The "infernal" heat wave is already in Spain: some areas will reach up to 47 degrees ?
The hottest day will be on Saturday with temperatures that may exceed 40ºC in most areas of the country ☄️
BE CAREFUL WITH THE HEAT... FOLLOW THESE TIPS:
? Try to avoid going out during peak hours of the day (between 12:00 and 20:00). During these times it is best to be at home or in a cool environment as the heat is especially dangerous between these times.
? Don't wait to be thirsty to drink water! BUT NOT TOO COLD It is very important to keep hydrated. If you are thirsty, that is because you are already dehydrated.
? Avoid heavy meals. If you eat a big meal, your body loses energy while trying to process the food. Heavy foods will dehydrate you more. The Ministry of Health recommends foods that will help you recover from loss of sweat and energy e.g. Fruit, vegetables, salad, juices.
?☕️ Try to cut down on caffeinated or alcoholic drinks (yes we know this is a hard one!!). Caffeinated drinks speed up our system and means we use up more energy. And alcohol of course... dehydrates you.
⚽️ Try playing sport only at night time (and only if you must). Of course exercise is very good for our health, but in these kind of temperatures, it is very dangerous.
? Close windows during the day, ventilate at night. This will help keep your house as cool as possible. Keep persianas down and windows shut throughout the day, and open up when the sun goes down.
? Shower with lukewarm water. If you get at a temperature of 40 degrees and you get in very cold water, the thermal difference can cause an impact on the body. The skin constricts, the central circulation can obtain a peak of hypertension and can even generate cardiovascular problems.
? Avoid air con at very low temperatures. Turning on the air con can provide instant relief from extreme heat, but this option can carry risks. Air con dries the air and if you don't increase your water intake you can suffer dehydration. In addition, the contrast in temperatures poses dangers to our body.
?? Do not leave pets or humans in the car. This one needs no explanation!
?⚕️ ALWAYS consult a doctor if you haver any persisting symptoms of dehydration, it is very dangerous.
? Take care!!! ?
