Anyone 54 years of age or older (born in 1967 or earlier) can request an appointment to receive a booster dose with mRNA vaccines (Moderna or Pfizer) *, taking into account a number of points detailed below.  People between 40 and 53 years old can be vaccinated soon (it will be announced through official channels).

 PRIOR VACCINATION HISTORY

-> PFIZER or MODERN VACCINE HISTORY: for people who were vaccinated in their day with 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, at least 6 months must have passed since the last dose to be able to receive this 3rd booster dose , which could be both Moderna and Pfizer.  Both mRNA vaccine options are valid and equally effective and safe in these cases, and are currently interchangeable.

-> BACKGROUND OF ASTRAZENECA: For people who received 2 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on their day, at least 3 months must have passed since the last dose of AstraZeneca to receive the booster dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.  Both mRNA vaccine options are valid and equally effective and safe in these cases, and are currently interchangeable.

-> ASTRAZENECA + PFIZER / MODERNA BACKGROUND: For people who received one dose of AstraZeneca and then one dose of Pfizer or Moderna, at least 6 months must have passed since this last dose of Pfizer or Moderna to receive the new booster dose which could be both Moderna and Pfizer.  Both mRNA vaccine options are valid and equally effective and safe in these cases, and are currently interchangeable.

-> JANSSEN BACKGROUND: for people who received a dose of Janssen, at least 3 months must have passed since that dose of Janssen to receive the booster dose, which may be from both Moderna and Pfizer.  Both mRNA vaccine options are valid and equally effective and safe in these cases, and are currently interchangeable.

-> WHAT TO DO IF COVID-19 HAS ALREADY HAPPENED

In people 60 years of age or older who have already been previously diagnosed with COVID-19, either with symptoms or without symptoms, the following actions will be taken:

-> People over 65 years of age: they will be vaccinated the same as if they had not passed COVID-19, whether they have passed COVID before the first dose, between the first and the second dose, or after the second dose.  In the event that they have recently passed COVID, the third dose can be given if they are well and are not in isolation.

-> People 65 years of age or younger: it will depend on whether the infection has passed before or after vaccination, and which vaccine had been given:

-> Infection before the start of the vaccination process: people who were administered one or two doses of vaccine after infection, the booster dose of mRNA vaccine (which may be from both Moderna and Pfizer) * will be administered once at least 6 months from the last dose if it was mRNA (Moderna or Pfizer), or at least 3 months if it was AstraZeneca or Janssen.

-> Infection after the first or second vaccination dose: the booster dose of mRNA vaccine will be given, which can be from both Moderna and Pfizer *, if at least 4 weeks have passed since you suffered or were diagnosed with COVID -19.

 OTHER SPECIAL CASES

Here is how the booster dose will be administered in more specific cases:

-> People aged 54 years or older vaccinated with only one dose of Pfizer: they will receive a second dose of mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) if at least 21 days have passed.  After this 2nd vaccination, they will receive a booster dose of mRNA vaccine, which can be from both Moderna and Pfizer *, after at least 6 months.

-> People aged 54 years or older vaccinated with only one dose of Moderna: they will receive a second dose of mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) if at least 28 days have passed.  After this 2nd vaccination, they will receive the booster dose of mRNA vaccine, which may be from both Moderna and Pfizer *, after at least 6 months.

-> People aged 54 years or older vaccinated with only one dose of AstraZeneca: they will receive a second dose of mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) if at least 8 weeks have passed.  After this 2nd vaccination, they will receive the booster dose of mRNA vaccine, which may be from both Moderna and Pfizer *, after at least 6 months.

 HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

People aged 54 and over (both those with public and private insurance) can make an appointment through the usual self-citation channels: the Clic Salud + website, the Salud Responde App, by calling Salud Responde, or through the Health Center.  This is the most recommended option.

People aged 60 and over can also go directly to a specific vaccination point without an appointment.
