On the 26th March  at 4 pm my daughter Sabina and I  ( and possibly my husband if he will be at home) are doing a 12 km Walk for Ukraine. We have a huge desire to help in this difficult moments for Ucraine and the Ucranians. As you know we are from Moldova, neighbours with Ukraine. 

We have the highest number of refugees per 100.000 habitants. They need our help.

Unfortunately Moldova is not a rich country. But the Moldovans have a big heart and we are doing our best to help our neighbours, our friends and families and all the innocent people who had to leave their homes because of the war. 

As Moldova is not in EU, it's not easy to send a track with goods there. It would have to pass 3 customs controls: one in Hungary, one in Rumania and another one in Moldova. For that we would have to present a lot of paper work showing the origin of the goods and what exactly we have in the truck. Maybe we will have to pay taxes on them. 

To go to Moldova and to come back it means to do 8000 km. It also means about 2000 euros in fuel. 

So, we were thinking how to  better help the refugees which go to Moldova and decided to do the walk and raise some funds to send to Moldova and buy there locally what is needed for the refugees. It will also help a bit the economy of Moldova. 

I'm going to update all the details every so often  presenting fotos of the whole process and people will see how we did it.

 El 26 de marzo a las 4 pm mi hija Sabina y yo (y posiblemente mi esposo si estará en casa) estamos haciendo una caminata de 12 km por Ucrania.  Tenemos un gran deseo de ayudar en estos momentos difíciles para Ucrania y los ucranianos.  Como sabéis somos de Moldavia, vecinos de Ucrania.

 Tenemos el mayor número de refugiados por cada 100.000 habitantes.  Necesitan nuestra ayuda.

 Desafortunadamente, Moldavia no es un país rico.  Pero los moldavos tienen un gran corazón y estamos haciendo todo lo posible para ayudar a nuestros vecinos, a nuestros amigos y familiares ya todas las personas inocentes que tuvieron que abandonar sus hogares a causa de la guerra.

 Como Moldavia no está en la UE, no es fácil enviar una ruta con productos allí.  Tendría que pasar 3 controles aduaneros: uno en Hungría, uno en Rumanía y otro en Moldavia.  Para eso tendríamos que presentar una gran cantidad de papeleo que muestre el origen de la mercancía y qué es exactamente lo que tenemos en el camión.  Tal vez tengamos que pagar impuestos sobre ellos.

 Ir a Moldavia y volver significa hacer 8000 km.  También significa unos 2000 euros en combustible.

 Entonces, estábamos pensando en cómo ayudar mejor a los refugiados que van a Moldavia y decidimos hacer la caminata y recaudar algunos fondos para enviar a Moldavia y comprar allí localmente lo que se necesita para los refugiados.  También ayudará un poco a la economía de Moldavia.

 Voy a actualizar todos los detalles de vez en cuando presentando fotos de todo el proceso y la gente verá cómo lo hicimos.

 También tendremos camisetas a la venta.
