Andalusia will begin next week to summon 30-year-olds for their Covid vaccination.

The Junta de Andalucía will begin to cite those under 40 years of age at the end of next week, those born after 1981. Currently, the immunization campaign is focused on people between 40 and 49 years of age (born between 1972  and 1981, both inclusive).

At the end of the Governing Council meeting on Tuesday, the Andalusian Government spokesman, Elías Bendodo (PP), announced that the rate of immunization against the disease caused by the coronavirus "has been three weeks ahead" with respect to the planned calendar.  "At the end of next week we will start calling people under 40 years of age in Andalusia", an age group that was initially going to be called in the first week of July.  This process is working faster than expected.

Bendodo stressed that half of Andalusians "have already put a dose and almost two million are immunized", having completed the vaccination schedule.  5.35 million vaccines have been given, he has pointed out.  "Andalusia is at the head of the vaccination rate and the rate has advanced three weeks", has emphasized the also counselor of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía.

Bendodo has asked the Andalusians for a "last great effort" and prudence to avoid contagion and "save the summer."  In this sense, he stressed that hospitalizations and ICU admissions have dropped "spectacularly", but "infections are not decreasing and that worries us."
