New COVID-19 Restrictions in the MURCIA REGION

The Ministry of Health closes the bars and restaurants of the 36 municipalities in the Region of Murcia that are at extreme risk.

The hospitality business, is closed as of this Tuesday 12th January in the following towns: Moratalla, Fortuna, Abanilla, Jumilla, Mula, Caravaca de la Cruz, La Unión, Ricote, Yecla,  Albudeite, Santomera, Lorquí, Villanueva del Río Segura, Murcia, Las Torres de Cotillas, Cartagena, Molina de Segura, Alguazas, Pliego, Blanca, Lorca, Los Alcázares, Campos del Río, Cieza, San Pedro del Pinatar, Bullas, Torre Pacheco  , San Javier, Águilas, Abarán, Ulea, Alcantarilla, Ceutí, Fuente Álamo, Cehegín and Archena.

Take away & delivery service will be permitted.

All of these areas will also have a perimeter closure and to enter them or leave you must have a justified reason.

This was announced by the Health spokesperson for the pandemic, Jaime Pérez, after the meeting of the Covid-19 Monitoring Committee today, where he also pointed out that the entire Autonomous Community goes to Phase 2 of healthcare risk due to the health emergency situation and the uncontrolled advance of the coronavirus pandemic.

The areas that are not confined for the moment are: Aledo, Alhama, Beniel, Calasparra, Librilla, Mazarrón, Ojós, Puerto Lumbreras and Totana.

They will though establish the following measures when the entire Region enters Phase 2 of risk:

  • the interior of the hospitality and catering establishments is closed and may only serve customers on the terraces and with a maximum capacity of 75%
  • the capacity is reduced to 50% in the shops, and the day care centers close.

This comes into effect as of tomorrow TUESDAY 12th JANUARY and no end date has yet been announced although the COVID-19 monitoring committee have meetings every Monday
