Jos Biggs having trouble with cookies

Jos Biggs having trouble with cookies this week. Bet this may havehappened to some of you ?

Before I reveal my latest foray into the World of Jos I need to apologise to Lucy of Best Catch for incorrectly assigning her to another business of a similar name.

It’s like spilling a bowl of peas!

All the peas are in one place, but drop the bowl and the peas will spread far and wide, not perhaps quite to the ends of the earth, but certainly to the entire floor surface of the kitchen, and underneath everything that has a floor-level gap.

It will take superhuman control of the vocal chords not to utter words that a lady should not even know, let alone use.

It will also take a high level of sweeping skills married with a deep knowledge of pea psychology to locate and capture them all.

But I’m not talking about peas - I’m talking about cookies! Not the edible sort, the irritating sort that make reading anything online into a marathon of frustration.

All I wanted to do was send an Easter e-card. Normally I simply click New Tab, select the site I want, and I’m away! Simples!

However, this time I could find the site, but couldn’t get on it. Apparently I had deleted its cookies, and in retaliation it was going to sulk until I apologised and put its cookies back.

I’m not aware that I deleted its cookies, though I am in favour of the total extermination of cookies everywhere - a sort of cookie genocide.

I asked politely what it wanted me to do, and it told me that I had to delete my History and start all over again.

Having searched everywhere between the Outer Hebrides and the Central African Republic I eventually found History, deleted it and went back optimistically to my original starting point.

Now all I had to do was tell the site who I was and what my password was.

Victory! It had taken a couple of hours, but I had succeeded!

Not so fast, Batman! That was the easy bit! Since then every single site I have been on - fortunately not many - I have had to start all over again. It seems as if I have become electronically invisible.

It goes like this: I find the site. Sometimes it will admit to knowing my email address.

However, even though it has a line of dots where my password should be, it will insist that my password is wrong. If it recognises my email address, why should the password be beyond it?

So then I have to dive into the murky waters of Change My Password. For some reason I have to invent a new password, but I don’t want a new password - I’m comfortable with the one I’ve got - I can remember it.

But I have a cunning plan. Give it a couple of days and I’ll go back to Change My Password. And I’ll change my password back to what it should be!

Ha! That’ll learn it!
