*Voting in local elections in Spain* 

Lots of you have told us you are concerned about your continued right to vote in local elections here in Spain, following an ECJ ruling a couple of months ago and subsequent press reports, so we wanted to reiterate our earlier guidance. 

The ECJ judgement, which concerned a UK National resident in France, does not affect UK nationals’ right to vote and stand in local elections in Spain. These are provided by the bilateral agreement between the UK and Spain, which allows UK nationals who have lived in Spain for more than 3 years to vote and stand in local elections.

UK nationals can vote and stand in local elections in Spain once they have been resident for 3 years. To do so, you must:

• be registered on the municipal register where you live (padrón municipal)

• confirm your registration on the electoral roll (censo electoral), within the dates set by the electoral authorities before each election

Your town hall may not allow you to register on the electoral roll at other times, so don't worry if you are not able to register at this point.

Las fiestas de Arboleas arrancaran en la feria del mediodía del jueves con un paseo en moto que darán nuestros vecinos de la asociación 'Arboleanos por el Mundo' para quien quiera sumarse a las 10:00 horas desde la plaza de las fiestas. Después habrá una concentración de dicha asociación en la Plaza de España con la actuación del grupo musical 'El Lilo' a partir de las 14:00 horas.

The Arboleas festivities will start at the noon fair on Thursday with a motorcycle ride given by our neighbors from the association 'Arboleanos por el Mundo' for those who want to join at 10:00 from the festivities square. Afterwards there will be a concentration of said association in the Plaza de España with a performance by the musical group 'El Lilo' starting at 2:00 p.m.

De Arboleas-festiviteiten beginnen donderdag op de middagmarkt met een motorrit verzorgd door onze buren van de vereniging 'Arboleanos por el Mundo' voor degenen die willen meedoen om 10:00 uur vanaf het feestplein. Daarna zal er een concentratie van genoemde vereniging zijn op de Plaza de España met een optreden van de muziekgroep 'El Lilo' vanaf 14:00 uur.

Die Arboleas-Feierlichkeiten beginnen am Donnerstag mittags auf dem Jahrmarkt mit einer Motorradfahrt, die unsere Nachbarn vom Verein „Arboleanos por el Mundo“ für diejenigen anbieten, die um 10:00 Uhr vom Festplatz aus mitmachen möchten. Anschließend findet um 14:00 Uhr eine Konzentration des besagten Vereins auf der Plaza de España mit einem Auftritt der Musikgruppe „El Lilo“ statt.

Les festivités d'Arboleas débuteront jeudi à la foire de midi avec une balade à moto offerte par nos voisins de l'association 'Arboleanos por el Mundo' pour ceux qui veulent se joindre à 10h00 depuis la place des festivités. Ensuite, il y aura une concentration de ladite association sur la Plaza de España avec une performance du groupe musical 'El Lilo' à partir de 14h00.
